We will focus on two phenomena within the atmosphere: the formation of the ozone hole, and the relation between the formation of greenhouse gases and global warming. As we learn about the chemistry of global warming, we will also explore how it overlaps with other disciplines and areas within our lives, including atmospheric chemistry, environmental science and public policy. We will explore the battle over eliminating compounds harmful to the ozone layer, and contrast that with the current debate over global warming. Should we act? If so, must we act right now? Who is right and who is wrong? Does right or wrong mean anything in this context? You will read, write, and debate. The sky is the limit!

Public comments are welcome.
